After a pretty hefty amount of partying the Ball field takes on a rather more relaxed vibe on Sunday afternoon. But don’t head home yet – there’s plenty more fun to be had.
Head down to the Lazer Shack for our afternoon session, featuring hangover-friendly cocktails, music and even a session on foraging to make your own boozy botanical infusions… for when you’re ready to get back on the wagon.
Booze from the hedge
Josh from Wild St Ives is an Ethnobotanical scallywag, gardener and professional wild food guide.
He’ll be talking all things Wild Booze — with a few cheeky tasters — and showing us how the Cornish Hedgerows are filled with all sorts of delicious wild treats: edible fruits, roots, seeds and shoots.
Foraging is all the rage in the alcohol industry with some great flavours hiding out there and Josh works with consults with loads of local chefs and distillers to help them sustainably incorporate wild flavours into their work.
Wild St Ives is a Social enterprise, connecting people with plants through Wild edible adventures, botanical workshops and events.
Music at the edge
Louella Jade Eke has long been a friend of the Ball and her evocative lyrical and vocal range is not to be missed, particularly when it’s floating out across the Ball field with the ocean as accompaniment.
Projecting folk, country and blues across a contemporary backdrop with crystalline clarity, she’s one of Cornwall’s top 50 emerging artists and the perfect soundtrack to a lazy afternoon with your mates.
And Porthleven legends in their own backyard (and further afield – they recently featured on BBC Radio Cornwall dontcha know!) Half Kut will be stopping by to wake and shake us all up with their unique brand of crazy. Expect live punk music with gnarly crowd surfing, broken stuff, lots of booze, prize giveaways and loud noise.
Ta dah! You’re back in the room (ok, field). Come on Sunday… let’s be ‘avin ya!
